Corporate finance company claim for loss of profits

Appointed as an independent expert by the defendant company in relation to a claim in the High Court for loss of profits brought by a corporate finance company.

The claimant alleged that it had suffered losses following the early termination of a contract for the provision of financial and strategic advice in relation to the raising of finance. We concluded that the claimant had failed to adequately quantify or substantiate its loss and had made insufficient efforts to mitigate losses. In response to the calculations provided by the claimant, we produced a range of loss calculations on the basis of different assumptions in order to assist the court. This was required due to the inadequate financial records maintained by the claimant.
